Its been quite a while!!

Its been quite a while since i've updated this blog. A lot has happened within rhis few months and most of them were distressful. The price of rice has shot up two fold, cement ceiling price uplifted, so does chicken , and the mother of all hike was the recent 41% jump in fuel prices have caught most of us with our pants down baby!! Well it seems that few of the unscrupulous oil futures traders at CBOT (Chicago Board of Trading), CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) are far more clever and intelligent in determining future oils prices, than the rest of the world who are dependent on it!! I suppose the oil producing countries should just then go back to basic without resting the price movement to
these bunch of softhead people.

Enough of oil murmuring. Now lets talk about TUKUL. From a mere single outfit, in a year time, we have expanded to 3 stores located at Bandar Baru Ampang, Kajang Perdana and Senawang, Negeri Sembilan with Bandar Baru Ampang as the headquarters. These are some pictures of the stores.

Our concept is simple, very much similar to ACE, HomeDIY and SKL with more emphasis on branding. In recent development, we had upgraded ourselves of becoming a wholesaler and supplier in late 2007. The whole operation was moved to Sunway Technological Park at Sunway Damansara from Bandar Baru Ampang in which the retail operation of Bandar Baru Ampang being merged with our Senawang outfit.

The birth of TUKUL !!

The TUKUL brand was created in early 2006, using 3 elements, namely, our children's idea, naive contemplation and creative thinking. It's sole purpose is to uplift the spirit of the Bahasa MALAYSIA usage in the commercial branding world. Prior to the brand's inception, we were mainly involved in the hardware retail business, offering an array of products from tools, household items to builders hardware. Realizing the stiff competition from local retailers as well as foreign brands,it has provoked us to pause and rethink on a new strategic marketing plan. Tirelessly, we argued, brainstormed and deliberated on dozens of ideas before passionately agreeing on the TUKUL design and brand. It was not smooth sailing at first though, with mainly negative comments coming from peers, friends and competitors. Demoralized and angry , we strengthen our mental state, and made a trip to Jakarta in May 2006. To our astonishment, the trip proved to be the turning point of our business journey. We adamantly believed that the 'stumbling block/wall' that lies before us remain to be a mental image that emerge from fear of losing.

"Where's the wall?" fiercely and abruptly coming out of Stephen's voice, murmuring about our relentless worry on the "wall" that preventing us to advance forward. "Show me, show me, where's the wall!" he repeatedly waving both his hands across our faces, simultaneously provoking us to prove our case. Confused, humiliated and stunned, logical intermittent thinking started to spread across our mind, confirming the notion that the "wall" is merely an illusion, a common mental state in facing difficult business confrontation, that demand patience, passion and wisdom to overcome them. Viciously shaken to reality, as if being awaken from the last words of Mel Gibson in BRAVEHEART (moment before the famous battle with the English troops, if you recalled), broke open a hidden strength of new ideas and high minded efforts to be continuously relevant in the industry. Moving forward, we firmly believe that the TUKUL brand will create its own history in the business world, paving the way to a WORLD CLASS Malaysian brand!
